@FallofDarkness55 A great list and even though you said that there are more geniuses than those that you mentioned, I would like to mention Richard Feynman. A great physicist who loved to teach and believed that if you can’t explain something in simple terms to anyone, you don’t understand it well enough yourself.
@js1000lisboa yeah, how could i forget Feynman? another brilliant mind of the 20th century that everyone should look up to.
and yes i’m aware that newton was from the 17th century. i was referring to feynman as an addition to einstein, hubble, and hawking.
@AussieDubstep are you referring to the analogy about the south pole? If so I would like to say that the four directions (north, south, east and west) are human creations but the big bang (if it happened) is a natural event therefore the two have no relation. The argument for what was before the big bag is about cause and effect, but question ‘in what direction is south at the south pole?’ is about the human understanding of our planet.
@flippingnational true. u obviously have loads more insight
cheers
Recently was published that an energy radation was discovered which is older than big bang itself, so the universe did have an existent before the big bang. Now scientist on this evidence are saying the universe is cycling, meaning that many events of contraction and expansion (with big bangs in the middle) have occurred several times in the past. So, it may be we are in universe version 7 or something like that.
@carlostib feynman said something about quantum approach to a universe having multiple histories instead of one, is this in agreement with the cyclic theory??
greatest physicists in my opinion were (in no particular order) feynman, einstein, newton, schrodinger, hawking
@BuzzEnWell Silly irrelivent question… but,… How Can You Type Like This? I’ve got nothing agaist it.. But surly your fingers get tired hitting the shift keys?
no entendĂ ni mierda
@flippingnational The concept of “before” is just as human a definition as south. The universe does not comply to our understanding or innate tendacy to abstract in certain manner. You mention cause and effect but that is something that breaks down when time itself breaks down into something we no longer have an innate relation with. Just like quantum effects feels strangly wrong when they produce 2 truths that we innatly feel are not compatible and make them both true until tested.
@Njald True that time is something that we can not fully understand and comprehend 100% but it is a dimension (I concede that dimensions are the human perception of space) but the compass directions are just labels we placed on the magnetic fields of our local universe. The magnetic field of our planet is not restricted to just the surface of the planet; it extends past the pole and then curves back to the opposite pole. I agree we do not understand this universe enough to make it past abstract.
@activate124 i dont belive him
i wrote a story about this : people of titan, go ahead google it!
@FallofDarkness55 Richard Dawkins and Alan Turing?
@lewisner My above list consists of well-respected physicists. Even though i’m studying computer engineering, I still love physics. So no I wouldn’t include Richard Dawkins and Alan Turing in my list. by the way, I personally don’t like Richard Dawkins and I’m not going to tell you why. It’s personal and it may cause controversy. respect my opinion.
@FallofDarkness55 “respect my opinion.” OK. Sorry I spoke.
@bradkey98765 What I find more amusing is that somebody that finds stephen hawking interesting cannot even write some what proper.
Mr. Hawking is an inspiration and a gifted human being. Out of all the billions of individuals on earth, it worries me that we have so few like him to help ensure a secure future for mankind.
@greatfruitlover You’d be surprised what some successful mathematicians, physicists and computer software programmers get away with when it comes to writing “proper”. Most of which you’ll find see Stephen Hawking as interesting.
inspiring!
I lol’d when I saw the pope
